Just at the right moment, I got a call

It might not seem that important, but for a student, this is practically the difference between life and death. The thing is, in 2013, Profeet Roelof Meijer was hit by a car and his bike was completely wrecked. Even though he didn’t know what to do, God knew—and even better than Roelof could have imagined!

As Roelof was cycling home, he was overlooked by a car coming out of a side street. At first, the car seemed to brake, but then decided to cross anyway. Just then, Roelof cycled right in front of the car and ended up on the hood. Fortunately, the car wasn’t going fast, and Roelof landed fairly gently on the road. But there isn’t much left of his bike. What should he do now?

Roelof sees only two options. There’s a bike for sale near where he lives. This is an easy solution, but it costs money, and a student doesn’t have that kind of cash lying around. The other option is probably cheaper, but it requires him to fix up his old bike himself. That mainly takes time and skill (and the latter isn’t something that makes Roelof happy). Roelof can’t decide, but decides to trust God. Encouraged by Bible study and other Christian examples, he trusts that God will make clear what is the right thing to do in this simple situation at the right time.

The next day, Roelof has an appointment until noon. So he prayed to God to make it clear to him by then what he should do (he can’t start on it before then anyway). And what happens at exactly noon?

His father calls. But not with advice on what Roelof should do with his bike. No, his father calls to say that he’s fixed up two old bikes through a neighbor and will bring them over the day after tomorrow. What an amazing miracle!

Instead of wisdom on what Roelof should do to get one bike, he gets two new bikes for free. Hallelujah!
